Esaunggul.ac.id, In commemoration of Takenoko Medical Group’s 21 years of service in the health sector, Esa Unggul University and Takenoko Medical Group held free health checkups for the surrounding community. The event, held at the Esa Unggul University Tangerang Campus, successfully reached 500 participants from various backgrounds, ranging from housewives and the elderly to students.

This event is part of a strategic collaboration between Takenoko Medical Group and Universitas Esa Unggul Tangerang Campus as a tangible manifestation of the university’s contribution to supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

Healthy Exercise

A total of 24 professional medical personnel were deployed to serve participants in three examination sessions to ensure the event ran smoothly and comfortably. The series of events began with group fitness exercises led by Dr. Mury Kuswari, S.Pd, M.Si, Head of the Nutrition Science Study Program at Esa Unggul University, who enlivened the atmosphere and motivated participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Early Detection of Non-Communicable Diseases

The main focus of this health check-up was the early detection of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, two non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to increase in Indonesia. Each participant received blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as direct medical consultations with the team of doctors.

Participants who required treatment also received prescriptions and free medication that could be redeemed directly at Mamoru Farma Pharmacy, located right in front of the Universitas Esa Unggul Tangerang campus. This facility ensures that the community receives comprehensive health services without financial constraints.

Education Through Health Talk Shows

Complementing the medical activities, this event also featured a Health Talk Show with the theme “Healthy Lifestyle and Chronic Disease Prevention.” The speakers were from Takenoko Medical Group and the UEU Faculty of Health Sciences, including:

This talk show served as an educational platform discussing the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and awareness of regular health checkups as preventive measures against non-communicable diseases.

Synergy between Education and Health

This event was attended by Prof. Dr. Aprilita Rina Yanti Eff., M.Biomed., Apt. (Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UEU), Didin Wahidin, S.T. (Director of the UEU Tangerang Campus), and the academic leadership of Universitas Esa Unggul.

In her speech, Prof. Aprilita expressed her appreciation for this collaboration, which she considered to have dual benefits: community service and hands-on learning for students.

“We hope that this collaboration can continue as part of our community service in the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education),” she said.

The Director of the UEU Tangerang Campus, Didin Wahidin, S.T., added that this activity reflects the role of universities as agents of social change.

“Campuses must be present in the community, not only as places of learning, but also as service centers that have a positive social impact,” he said.

One of the participants, Kesi Pratiwi, a resident of Kotabumi, Tangerang, admitted that this program was very helpful.

“The examination was complete, the results were explained clearly, and the medicine was free. This program is very helpful for those of us who have difficulty accessing health services,” she said.

The Realization of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education

The Rector of Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, S.T., M.B.A., IPU, ASEAN Eng., emphasized that this activity is a real implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the aspect of community service.

“We appreciate the collaboration with Takenoko Medical Group in this social service activity. This is not only a health service, but also a learning laboratory for our Faculty of Health Sciences students,” said the Rector.

He added that Universitas Esa Unggul will continue to present community service programs that have a direct impact, especially in the health sector.

“Health is a long-term investment for the nation. Through activities like this, we not only provide medical services but also education so that the community can maintain their health from an early age,” he added.

This social service activity is clear evidence of the synergy between the world of education and health services in improving public health.
